An Eye On London

"The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren and to do good is my religion." Thomas Paine

About Me …

This blog came about as a useful memory device for posterity and to show people that there is another London out there; the less visited and often avoided marvels of the hidden Metropolis, what William Cobbett called, The Great Wen. Other readers or visitors  who are unfamiliar with London can gain an insight into that different city, a London that is off the beaten path and beyond the reach of the Blue Badge tyrants.

The best way to discover London is by walking its streets and alleys, its bridges and stairwells. London has a seasonal, ever-changing appeal. You may be viewing a hillside, a path, a slope thick with tangled briars or exploring what is left of the immigrant influence on the city’s buildings then you will understand how vast London can be. I discover new things all the time, places I had never visited before and paths and walks that help people explore London’s changing landscape and its diverse geography. I do hope that all the ‘marvels of the metropolis’ will find their way onto this blog.

All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes, a sense of curiosity and wonderment and a longing to explore London and its varied and magnificent history.
